APA Division 51 (Society for the Psychological Study of Men and Masculinities) Diversity Leader Fellowship

The Diversity Leader Fellowship is Division 51’s new initiative aimed at providing a structured training opportunity for Early Career Professionals (ECP) and Advanced Doctoral Students (ADS) who possess one or more minority identities. The fellowship’s aim is to develop an individual’s leadership capacity through provision of mentorship from esteemed professionals in the psychology of men and masculinities. Fellowship goals include: (1) a tangible project that can be used in the practice, teaching, and/or research of the psychology of boys and men; (2) offering mentorship to ECPSs and ADSs; (3) increasing visibility and interest in Division 51 for non-majority individuals; and (4) diversifying Division 51’s leadership by providing mentorship around attaining Board positions.

The Diversity Leader will receive a travel stipend of $500 to attend APA Convention to present his or her project experience, mentorship from Division 51 members in his or her field, and the opportunity to create social change advocacy for boys and men. The Diversity Leader will begin his or her project shortly after January 1 and will have up to 12 months for project completion.

Applicants are asked to submit a C.V. and two letters of recommendation, as well as a project proposal that thoughtfully reflects how the candidate’s own intersectional identities inform the work (750-word limit).
